Server-side defence of Phishing-attacks Phishing is typically carried out by email: An internet user receives an email with a link in it which leads to a spoofed website appearing to belong to the spoofed organization (for example the online-bank of the user) He is then asked to give his bank details. If he does so, because he is certain about the correctness of the email, it's mostly too late. The Phisher got his catch. "Without
telling too much", says Dr. Georg Hess [CEO of art of defence] "our
WAF module is installed as a software plug in into the Webserver of
the online bank. Thus our module is able to detect anomalies already
in the preparation of a phishing attack. The common anti-phishing
approaches nowadays aim for the end customer, technically speaking
for the clients side. Our module however is complementary to it since
it is a server-side solution. Hence the risk-minimization of the
website operator will be emphasized."
